Fibergalss Reinforced Buildings and Enclosures
BUILDINGS GENERAL DESIGN
Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) buildings are designed for easy and rapid installation in areas of corrosive chemicals and high humidity. The exterior surface is TAN in color, gel coated for attractiveness, excellent weatherability and low maintenance. All buildings are designed to withstand winds of 125 mph and 35 lb/ft sq snow loading.
CONSTRUCTION
FRP building and door is constructed of fiberglass reinforced polyester resin, molded by hand lamination process. The exterior is gel coated with an FRP back up. Wall and roof incorporate a fiberglass rib on 16-inch centers. The panel is then covered with 1" of rigid polyisocyanurate insulation: over which FRP is laminated, creating a rigid sandwich laminate. The exterior laminate is .180" thick, consisting of 3 plies of 1 ½ ounce mat. The interior laminate is .125" thick, consisting of 2 plies 1 ½ ounce mat. The building is attached to a concrete slab floor with stainless steel concrete anchors through a base flange on all wall sections. The interior is painted with a white surface coat.
MATERIAL
Gel Coat and Surface Coat:
All gel coats and surface coating are a chemical resistant neopentyl glycol based polyester resin. Pigments are selected for their long-term weatherability in corrosive applications.
Laminating Resin:
The laminating resin is a rigid orthophthalic polyester. Suitable for use in corrosive atmospheric conditions.
Fiberglass Reinforcement:
Fiberglass reinforcement of the outer laminate shall consist of three plies of 1 ½ ounce per foot chopped strand mat. The inner laminate shall consist of 2 plies of 1 ½ ounce per foot chopped mat.
Insulation:
Modified polyisocyanurate rigid foam one-inch thick shall be used throughout as insulation. Insulation has a K-factor of .14 BTU in/hr/ft/F degree, R-7.2 per inch. Insulation shall be completely encapsulated with FRP.
Building Installation to Concrete Pad
It is recommended that during the installation of the building to a concrete pad that a sealant be used. Concrete should be cleaned of all debris, dirt and rocks, surface should be dry before applying sealant.
Building Installation
The building is designed to be installed using overhead lifting equipment. Buildings are provided with lifting eyes so that they can be lifted in place. Note: a spreader bar is required to be used between the lifting eyes so the cable is lifting in vertical direction, this will assure that there is no side loading applied to the lifting eyes.
At no time shall building be lifted without the use of a spreader bar properly installed, so that the lift is vertical.
MAINTENANCE:
The building is designed for low maintenance. It is recommended that the building be washed occasionally using water and a mild soap solution inside and out to prolong the luster of the finish.
TOLERANCES:
Wall and roof dimensions may vary (+) or (-) ¼-inch and the wall thickness may vary (+) 1/8-inch, (-) 1/16-inch.
STANDARD FEATURES:
Continuous 4-inch outward mounting flange
Continuous stainless steel hinge on door
All molded construction
Building exterior will be TAN.
Building interior will be WHITE.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
The manufacturer reserves the right to alter details of construction, without prior notice; to the extent that the use of the building is not materially affected.
